Summer Lovin'....

....had me a blast.

It's impossible to catch you up on everything that goes on in this house on a daily basis.  Ryan and I are on the go pretty much 24/7.  Although, if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably have a pretty good idea of our day to day life.  I have a serious #overgramming problem.  But, you only live once right?!

Lately, we've been having lots of playdates both at friend's houses and at the local library.  We've been to the splash park, the regular park, we visit the apartment complex pool, take walks, go for runs at the Rail Trail in West Boylston, and pretty much fill our day with fun things.  Here are some highlights from the last few weeks.

Occasionally, Daddy does get to join us for some of our fun outings, though not often enough.  He was on nights all last week and that was brutal.  We definitely aren't looking forward to the next set of nights here in a few weeks.  But, on his day off, he went with us back to Davis Farmland for a goat petting, giant slide sliding, and splash parking afternoon of fun!  And apparently, I did not take a picture with him in it, but he was there! I promise!

He also got to visit my new favorite park in the area, Dean Park in Shrewsbury one evening after work.  They have the best play ground with tons of swings and toys, a sandbox full of shovels and dump trucks to play with, and a lake with geese!  The perfect park for little ones in my opinion.

We sure miss having Josh around all the time, but it does make the times that he is able to join us that much more special.  We know he's working super hard at the hospital and so we understand.  A life in medicine is a sacrifice for everyone in the family but Ryan and I are so proud of his hard work and dedication to both his job and his family.

Summer time is definitely my favorite and it's going to be quite the challenge once cold weather starts to hit because we love being outside, but I hear that Fall in Massachusetts is just beautiful and that there are all kinds of fun fall-ish things to do here so we are looking forward to that too!

July 4th Fun

Our 4th of July was actually very uneventful.  Josh had to work part of the day and it rained literally ALL day long.  Ryan and I didn't leave the house the entire day and instead, decided to spend the 4th watching about 5 Disney movies, which is likely one of my favorite parts of having a child in my house....I have an excuse to watch Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Frozen on repeat.   Missing the 4th of July has actually become quite a trend in the Scurlock family over the years.  In 2010 we were flying back to California from our honeymoon in Cozumel.  In 2011 we were in Grenada and Josh had class all day.  On the Fourth of July 2012 Josh was studying for Step 1 and last year, 2013, we were in the hospital after just having had Ryan!

We did however, get to celebrate Independence day on July 6th with all of our Mommy/Baby friends AND their husbands!  And as a bonus, Josh magically didn't have to work so he was in fact able to join us!  We bbq'd at Nikki, Luke, and Layla's beautiful home in Rutland, MA  and enjoyed peach bellinis, delicious cheeseburgers, and a few games of corn hole.   It was such a great day with amazing people (and the husbands aren't too bad either)! Ha!
Ryan, not having her best moment. Obviously.
I was so excited about Ryan's 4th of July attire.  Of course, getting a picture of her in it was like trying to give a stray cat a bath.  Completely painful and frustrating.  But in the end, I think we got a somewhat decent picture.  And for the record, while I think TOMS shoes are completely adorable on, they are so impractical! Seriously, I have a love/hate relationship with them.  The shoes are soooo challenging to get on and then they fall off far too easily.  Just a random mom rant for ya!

We had a major meltdown in the middle of it.

July 4, 2014 and July 4, 2013 What a difference a year makes!
Hope everyone had a great 4th, or 6th, or whatever!

Ryan's Birthday (Party)

I know what you're thinking....how many times can I blog about Ryan's first birthday?  Right?  Well, the answer is, as many as I want!  This is my blog after all. :)

The day before Ryan's actual birthday, I hosted a little birthday party celebration at my apartment with all of my new friends and their babies.  It wasn't anything super exciting.  We had some sandwiches, sang Ryan happy birthday, opened a few presents, and she got to eat a cupcake.  Oh and drank mimosas (the Mamas not the babies).  I honestly didn't take near enough pictures of the festivities, but it was super fun and I'm glad we at least did SOMETHING.  Plus it gave Ryan a chance to wear her adorable 1st birthday outfit again, which washed surprisingly well after her cake smash.

Ryan's new friends are all so sweet and showered her with some super fun gifts!  Then we headed up to the pool for a little swim.

Her very own Dr. Kit!

Assuming we get to stay in Massachusetts for all of Josh's residency, I know it's going to be so fun to watch all of these little girls grow up together.

Ryan's ACTUAL birthday was pretty low-key.  Josh was working (no surprise there) and so we woke up and ate some chocolate chip pancakes.  Totally Ryan's idea and who am I to say no to the birthday girl. :)

Pancakes were followed by a balloon crib photo session.  I'm sure she was wondering what in the heck was going on but she seemed to enjoy it.  That is until it was time to pop all of the balloons the next day and she was terrified.... Mom Fail.

We met up with the girls later in the day for some shopping and lunch, which is a great way to end any birthday if I do say so myself!

I can't promise this will be the last post about Ryan's 1st birthday.  I'm still waiting on her big first birthday gift from Josh and I to arrive and I'm sure I'll definitely want to post about that!
