A Day In Town

On Monday, I had my weekly SO board meeting at the University Club, so we spent the morning poolside.

Dad was excited to do some kayaking around Prickly Bay.

Apparently that wore him out.  Then it was time for a snooze.  Hey, he's on vacation.  It's allowed.

After lunch at the pool, we headed into St. George's to show the rents the spice market, the old churchs, and Fort George.

This church was all but destroyed by Hurrican Ivan in 2004.

After seeing the sights of St. George's, we came home, showered off, and headed to the crab races at the Owl Bar.  Julie's mom Phyllis has been in town as well and we all enjoyed betting on the crabs.  Mom even won a race!

We all had so much fun and I think they felt like they were getting to enjoy a very "Grenadian" experience!

Back on Our Island

We're Baaaaaaack!

And we brought our friends Kevin and Julie with us!

As much as I love my family and friends at home in California, and I really do love them, I was so ready to come back to Grenada.  I was missing the warm weather and sunshine, our apartment, our routine, my kitchen, the Limes kids, and even Toby (our Toyota).

We have been back almost a week and I know that my excuses for not blogging regularly are becoming old, but we really have been so busy!  Josh has experienced next to nothing on this island and since we had a week before classes began, we have been taking full advantage of it.

So here's what our week has looked like.

Monday: Grand Anse Beach

Reunited and it feels so good!

Tuesday: Concord Falls and hike to Fountain Bleu Falls (with a guide!)

Wednesday:  We drove to La Sagesse and it poured rain.  So we ended up at Dodgy Dock for Wing Wednesday.

Thursday:  University Club Pool Day

And today, Friday, we went to Magazine Beach where the waves were HUGE and we all got pummeled.  And I forgot to take any pictures.

Only two more days of freedom for Josh before 5th term starts.  Better enjoy it while it lasts!

First Visitors on the Rock

As I mentioned in my previous post, we had some visitors last week! Josh's oldest sister Kristin and her boyfriend Brandon traveled from California to spend a week with us in Grenada.  I had such a great time with them.  Josh was pretty busy studying all week, but that didn't keep the three of us from having lots of fun.  They arrived late Tuesday night.  So Wednesday morning, after they slept in a little, we headed to Grand Anse Beach.  We spent the afternoon soaking up the sun and then headed to Umbrellas for a late afternoon lunch of burgers and fries.

Later that evening, we went over to the school to watch Josh play in an intramural basketball game. His team won! Yay!  Although Kristin definitely takes after her Mom when watching Josh play sports.  Brandon and I had to keep telling her to be quiet! :)

Thursdays are pool days at the University Club for all the SO's.  So I took our visitors to the pool for the day.  Brandon and Kristin kayaked around the bay and we all enjoyed the pool.
I think Brandon was really in need of a vacation...
Relaxation at its finest!
We picked Josh up from school around 5pm, but he still needed to get some good study time in.  His first set of midterms are quickly approaching.  So the three of us took a walk up Lance Aux Epines Road to the lookout point to watch the sunset.

There are SO many beautiful flowers here in Grenada.  I tried to make a point of taking pictures of the ones along our walk.

And of course Kristin and I needed to pose by some of them.

Grenada really is such a beautiful place.
Once we finally made it to the lookout point, the sunset didn't disappoint.
It was gorgeous...as usual.  I just wish Josh could have enjoyed it with us.
The first two days were so much fun! But keep checking back for more fun adventures with our visitors!

P.S.  Who's coming to visit next?!?
